About the role

The position of cook is responsible for planning and the preparation of meals. This role will also ensure that food is prepared and presented in accordance with the relevant guidelines and legislation to provide a quality service that meets our resident’s needs. We are currently looking for an experienced Cook for our St Catherine's Retirement facility. 

What you bring 

  • Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation.
  • Experience in aged care or residential setting (Desirable).
  • TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards) (Desirable not essential).
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements.
  • Ability to plan menus to meet standards e.g. Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Ability to order food to meet requirements of menu cycle and keep within budget.
  • Understanding of infection control and safety principles.
  • Good communication skills and understanding of the needs of elderly people.
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, e.g. stoves, ovens etc.
  • Completion of HACCP Food Safety Program (or willingness to obtain).
  • Have a clear understanding of and personal commitment to the Mission, Values and Vision of Calvary Retirement Communities (CRC).
  • Current influenza and COVID-19 immunisation
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
