  • Salary Classification: Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2, Year 1 – 2
  • Remuneration: $66.50 to $67.83 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options.

THE ROLE:

The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (Breast) applies their advanced knowledge of the health needs, preferences, and circumstances of individuals with breast cancer to optimise the individual’s health and well-being at various phases across the continuum of care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up and palliative care. The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (Breast) incorporates advanced knowledge and skills in supportive care, including providing specialised and tailored information and education, psychological support, and clinical care using the McGrath Model of Care.

The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (Breast) facilitates continuity of care between different phases of the cancer journey, care settings, care plans and care providers to ensure optimal care is provided throughout the patients’ individual care.

DUTIES:

  • Application of advanced breast cancer knowledge and skills
  • Care coordination for people diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Promotion of interdisciplinary breast care
  • Patient focused supportive care
  • Act as a breast cancer resource person
  • Satisfy the requirements of the McGrath Foundation

ABOUT YOU:

  • Registered Nurse authorised to practice by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience with 3 years’ full-time experience in a Breast Care Nurse related role and post graduate qualification in Breast Care Nursing or Oncology.
  • High-level awareness of applying advanced knowledge of health needs, preferences, and circumstances of women with breast cancer to optimise outcomes across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and recent research relevant to the field of breast cancer nursing.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and a team-oriented approach.
