We are seeking a high-calibre Clinical Manager to join our exceptional team and lead our inpatient palliative care services at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital (CNAH). About the role

As our Permanent Part-time (0.8 FTE) Clinical Manager Palliative Care , you will provide optimal leadership and management, assuming responsibility and accountability for the standard of clinical care delivered and the operational performance of our inpatient palliative care services. Working closely with our exceptional Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Practice Nurses, you will be at the forefront of managing clinical operations and guiding our talented staff within our specialised palliative care unit. You will foster a respectful culture where interdisciplinary team members collaborate effectively to positively impact the lives of our patients and their families.

Through pivotal strategic management of human, financial, and material resources, you will work closely with the executive team to help shape organisational strategies, improve service provisions, and achieve departmental and hospital objectives. As a Level 3 role, you will directly report to the Deputy Director of Clinical Services – Inpatient Areas (DDCS-IA). Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our approach to palliative care and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible support and comfort.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the daily operations of the ward, ensuring seamless patient care, effective staffing, and optimal resource allocation.
  • Implementing and maintaining clinical standards and protocols that drive exceptional patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment among multidisciplinary teams, inspiring a shared commitment to delivering high-quality care that honours the dignity of every patient.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will possess:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, ensuring compliance with professional standards and a solid foundation in nursing practice.
  • A management or relevant postgraduate specialty qualification that complements your clinical expertise and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience in palliative care nursing or a related field, coupled with a deep understanding of best practices and the complexities of end-of-life care.
  • Strong leadership skills that enable you to inspire, mentor, and motivate a diverse team towards achieving departmental goals and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that are essential for building effective relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, ultimately promoting a compassionate and supportive atmosphere within our unit.
