2026 Graduate Nurse Transition to Practice Program – Enrolled Nurse

Permanent part-time positions (64 hours per fortnight)

Commencing February or March 2026

Salary Range - EN – $77,735 (Plus Super)

Calvary Hobart is pleased to offer recently graduated Enrolled Nurses the opportunity to apply for our comprehensive 2026 Graduate Nurse Transition to Practice (GNTP) Program.

About the Calvary Hobart 2026 GNTP Program

Our GNTP Program aims to offer you a comprehensive introduction to your Nursing Career, providing a dynamic and supportive environment for you to complete your Transition to Practice year that facilitates your growth and development as a professional nurse.

We appreciate that transitioning into practice is an exciting, although challenging time. We base our GNTP on a best practice Transition Changes Model. This enables us to identify your personal and professional needs as a newly Graduated Nurse and assists us to support you effectively throughout this journey. 

Our program includes;

  • Comprehensive Orientation program
  • 4 Graduate Specific Study Days
  • Supported supernumerary practice days
  • Allocated preceptors, educators and consistent GNTP Coordinator support
  • Initial reduced clinical load
  • Regular debrief opportunities
  • Opportunity to apply for supported 2nd year of practice Speciality Program
  • Career progression and ongoing employment opportunities after your GNTP is completed

Graduate Nurse positions may be at either of our two Hobart Hospitals - Lenah Valley or St John's - and are available in a variety of clinical settings, including Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, General and Specialised Surgical, Acute Medical, Acute Rehabilitation Services, Oncology and Palliative Care, Day Surgery Care, Perioperative and Endoscopy.

About you

  • Ability in utilising the nursing process in the provision of an excellent standard of nursing care, abiding by hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient centred care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team and the ability to liaise effectively with patients, their families and members of the community.
