About the role
 
The Bereavement Counsellor is based at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital and provides specialist, evidence-based grief and bereavement counselling within a hospital setting.  The role supports patients, families, carers and staff experiencing loss, anticipatory grief and complex emotional distress.  Working within a multidisciplinary environment, the position delivers compassionate, person-centred and trauma-informed care aligned with Calvary’s mission and values.  It includes psychosocial assessment, short- to medium-term counselling, coordination of referrals, and contribution to staff education and service development.
 
Your main duties will include:
  • Deliver bereavement counselling to patients, families and staff
  • Assess psychosocial needs and develop care support plans
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and refer as needed
About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration
  • Experience in grief, loss or end-of-life care settings
  • Strong communication and therapeutic engagement skills
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe care
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
