The Procurement & Supply Chain Operations Director leads Calvary’s enterprise-wide strategic sourcing function, shaping and delivering sourcing strategies across clinical and non-clinical categories to maximise value, reduce risk, and strengthen supplier performance. The role provides senior leadership across major procurement activity, including market engagement, complex negotiations, and contract execution, ensuring outcomes are commercially robust, compliant, and aligned with Calvary’s mission and operational priorities.
As a key member of the Procurement and Supply Chain leadership team, the Sourcing Director fosters a high-performing, collaborative, and commercially disciplined sourcing function, driving continuous improvement, stakeholder partnership, and best-practice procurement outcomes across the organisation.
- Comply with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and Calvary policies to support a safe environment for children and adults at risk.
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing across complex clinical and non-clinical categories, delivering outcomes across cost, quality, risk, and supply continuity.
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies using market intelligence, spend analysis, supply risk insights, and stakeholder requirements.
- Govern all sourcing activity (EOI, RFT, RFQ and related processes), ensuring transparency, compliance, and alignment with procurement policy and legislation.
- Lead high-value contract negotiations to achieve best-value commercial outcomes.
- Partner with Category Managers and Clinical Engagement to align sourcing execution with category strategies and clinical requirements, supporting standardisation.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships to drive performance improvement, innovation, and risk mitigation, and ensure effective contract transition into management with clear governance and benefits tracking.
- Contribute to procurement capability uplift by improving sourcing methodologies, maintaining a forward sourcing pipeline, identifying aggregation opportunities, leveraging market intelligence, and supporting broader procurement strategy and innovation.
Essential
- Minimum 10 years’ procurement experience, including strategic sourcing, complex negotiations, and major contract execution in large, complex organisations.
- Experience leading multi-category sourcing across clinical and/or non-clinical spend in health, aged care, or similar regulated sectors.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end procurement processes (market testing, evaluation, negotiation, and award).
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to deliver financial and risk outcomes through negotiation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across clinical, operational, finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Knowledge of procurement governance, probity, and risk management in not-for-profit environments.
Desirable
- MCIPS or equivalent procurement qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in Business, Law, or related field.
- Experience in Catholic or values-based health/community organisations.
- Familiarity with healthcare supply markets (prosthetics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, clinical consumables).
