At Calvary Health Care, we believe that “being for others” is at the heart of everything we do. As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team bringing comfort, dignity, and support to people when they need it most.

Calvary Kooyong is seeking volunteers who are interested in helping capture patient, resident and local community life stories.

We are looking for people who would like to use and develop their skills in a meaningful way, through listening, transcribing and editing life stories.

Level of commitment:

. 3 days of Volunteer Core Training, plus 3 days of Life Stories Training

. Availability during business hours

. Commitment of 8-12 one-hour sessions with an author (one hour per week), with time at home to transcribe and edit the sessions.

. Additional hours to complete and present the life story.

Total hours per life story can be approximately 60-70 hours.

Necessary skills:

. Interest in life stories

. Comfortable with the written word

. Strong communication skills

. Good listening skills

. Willingness to learn

. Competent IT skills

Other requirements:

. Access to own car and computer

. Align with the mission and values of Calvary

Acceptance into the program is subject to:

. An in-personal interview

. Successful police check and other compliance requirements

. Successful completion of  3 day Volunteer Core Training and 3 day Life Stories Training.
