2027 Student Nurse Internship Program – Calvary in Hobart, Tasmania

Are you a motivated nursing student eager to develop your skills, a strong sense of values, and make a difference in your community?

Commencing February 2027 – expected end date December 2027

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid internship and does not constitute paid employment.

Calvary in Hobart, in partnership with the University of Tasmania, is delighted to once again offer the Student Nurse Internship Program for 2027. This popular program aims to support Bachelor of Nursing students - as they transition from studying to becoming registered nurses, providing guidance, mentorship and hands-on experience within a professional healthcare environment.

This Internship Program is unpaid. Participation does not qualify as paid employment with Calvary. It is intended as a learning and development opportunity to help students build their professional skills and experience.

What the program offers

• Two Clinical Professional Experience Placements (PEP) at Calvary in Hobart commencing February 2027
• Ongoing support, mentorship, and performance feedback from experienced clinical teams
• Develop early familiarity with Calvary’s systems and processes enabling greater focus on clinical learning.
• No extra coursework, but with the added benefit of building strong relationships with Calvary staff and fostering a sense of belonging within our community.
• Upon successful completion of the Internship Program and other relevant registrations and documentation - gain prioritised entry into the 2028 Calvary Hobart Graduate Nurse Transition to Practice (GNTP) Program and 0.8 FTE permanent registered nurse positions.

Eligibility

A current University of Tasmania Bachelor of Nursing student enrolled in either:

• Enrolled to complete NUR358 and NUR359 clinical placements in 2027.
• An Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold a visa that allows ongoing full-time employment in Australia.
• Be a Hobart based resident or be able to relocate to Hobart for your Graduate Nurse year in 2028.
