About the role

We are looking for motivated, purpose-driven Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive clinical care to our clients at our Northaven Community located in Kerang, Victoria. Working as part of a team, the role is responsible for delivering high quality, best-practice care that meets the expectations of the consumer and demonstrates a commitment to maintaining an optimal level of dignity, respect, comfort, and quality of life for consumers.

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Listening to consumers and understanding what is important to them and supporting them to achieve their goals.
  • Report disrespectful or unkind behaviour displayed towards consumers/consumers directly to your supervisor.
  • Provide management & leadership to care staff & encourage an environment that is based on teamwork & a committed Consumer focus.
  • Ensure all staff reporting to the Registered Nurse are working within their scope of practice & maintaining Baptcare standards in terms of care delivery, professionalism & customer focused approach.
  • In conjunction with other senior staff, ensures each Consumer’s care reflects current best practice guidelines, respecting the individual Consumer’s needs & preferences.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication in relation to all aspects of care (to colleagues, staff, consumers & families) whilst respecting individual privacy & dignity.
  • Ensure safe & secure management of medications.
  • Attend and participate in site meetings & mandatory staff training as required or directed by site Manager.
  • Liaise with both internal & external customers (Consumers, families, contractors & visitors) in a compassionate, welcoming, helpful manner that best reflects the Baptcare Mission & Vision statement.
  • Demonstrate an understanding & be able to complete internal audits that help maintain the quality framework.
  • Competent with use of the Aged Care Funding assessments & assist the Personal care workers with the completion of same within due time frames.
  • Contribute pro-actively to the continuous improvement process and able to explain same to any other stakeholders.
  • Respond to complaints arising in area in a positive, calm & supportive manner. Communicates same to Senior Staff in a timely way to ensure follow up. If unable to assist or resolve immediately, is confident in liaising with NUM or other senior management to seek resolution for the complainant.
  • Maintain own educational and professional development within Scope of Practice.

About you:

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience working within the Aged Care Sector or with Elderly people
  • Proficient in computer literacy, including Microsoft Word & basic Excel
  • Must be willing to undergo background checks and a medical assessment that is specific to working with vulnerable clients
  • Ability to meet and perform the inherent requirements of the role
  • A Driver’s License would be essential (not mandatory)
