Housing Transition Specialist

Part-time – Contract until June 2027

Brunswick, VIC

About the Role

Housing is more than four walls - it's the foundation from which people rebuild their lives. BaptistCare’s Affordable Housing Development team in Melbourne is looking for a Part Time Housing Transition Specialist who understands that, and who brings both the practical skills and the genuine care to make transitions into safe, stable housing as smooth as possible for the people who need it most.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting clients to transition into affordable housing tenancies, coordinating assessments, documentation, and move-in processes end to end
  • Building trusted relationships with clients experiencing vulnerability, including those exiting homelessness, family violence situations, or institutional care
  • Collaborating with internal Baptcare service streams and external community partners to connect clients with wraparound supports
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and contributing to continuous improvement of housing transition processes

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or significant experience in tenancy management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and VCAT processes.
  • Experience in housing, homelessness, community services, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people facing complex needs in a trauma-informed, person-centred way
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and the ability to simply listen
  • A current Victorian driver's licence and Working with Children’s check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Alignment with BaptistCare's values of respect, compassion, and justice - the kind of values you already live by
