The opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced and values-driven Practice Lead – Aged Care to provide expert clinical leadership across our community-based and residential aged care services. In this influential role, you’ll champion safe, high-quality, person-centred care by leading the development and implementation of clinical governance frameworks, supporting workforce capability, and driving continuous improvement across practice, quality, and risk management.
This is an opportunity to lead with expertise, influence care outcomes at scale, and play a critical role in strengthening aged care services across regional Queensland.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous review of clinical governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and care models aligned with best practice and regulatory standards
- Lead quality improvement initiatives that enhance care delivery, safety, and organisational performance
- Drive a proactive approach to compliance and risk management, including conducting clinical audits, incident analysis, and support for accreditation and regulatory activities
- Provide expert clinical leadership to support safe, high-quality aged care service delivery across community and residential settings
- Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated, high-quality care delivery
- Analyse data from incidents, audits, and quality reports to identify trends and generate insights that inform continuous improvement strategies
- Provide education and support for medication management practices across services to ensure safe administration and promote resident and recipient wellbeing
About you
You’re a confident, clinically skilled leader who thrives in complex care environments and enjoys supporting others to deliver their best.
You’ll bring:
- Clinical expertise, sound judgement, and commitment to evidence‑based practice
- Experience in community-based and/or residential aged care, with sound knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and related frameworks
- Proven ability to provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and education to non-clinical and multidisciplinary workforces
- Highly developed person‑centred communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- A practical, analytical, and solutions-focused approach to improving care quality and managing risk
- Proven capability to think critically and approach challenges with innovation
- A track record of driving and sustaining continuous improvement in clinical practice
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating a safe, supportive, and wellbeing-focused clinical environment, including promoting safe practice, supporting psychological safety, and proactively managing risks
Essential requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Bachelor of Nursing and AHPRA registration to practice as a nurse in Australia
- Experience in the aged care service industry (highly desirable)
- Current open/P1 “C” Class Queensland driver’s licence
- Current nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (or ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- A Working with Children check (Blue card)
- NDIS Worker Orientation module 'Quality, Safety & You' certificate
- Ability to work out of hours work and travel as required
