THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Mining Production department is currently looking for an experienced and motivated Mine Controller to join the Team.

The role of Mine Controller is integral to the effective and efficient operation of the mining process. Reporting to the Mine Control Supervisor and situated within the control room on site, the Mine Controller provides crucial direction, oversight, and execution of the shift plan. This role focuses on optimizing production, ensuring safety, and maintaining seamless communication across all active mining areas. By managing and coordinating the mining fleet using MineStar, the Mine Controller enhances productivity and operational efficiency, contributing significantly to the mine’s overall success. 

Positions are permanent, on an 8/6 7/7 FIFO roster (day & night shift) and based at our Pilgangoora Lithium Mining Operation in the Pilbara WA. Although site-based for 1-2 years initially, this role has the potential to move to Perth-based operations in the future.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the real-time performance and productivity of all mining equipment through the MineStar Fleet Management System.
  • Implement and adjust shift plans based on operational requirements, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain a vigilant focus on safety protocols, ensuring all operations adhere to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between the control room and on-site personnel to ensure smooth operation and a quick response to issues.
  • Analyse data and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency.
  • Quickly address and resolve any operational disruptions or equipment malfunctions to minimise downtime.
  • Keep detailed logs of shift activities, incidents, and equipment performance for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Utilize short interval control techniques to make real-time adjustments and improvements, ensuring continuous enhancement of operational efficiency.
  • Track and assess the health and performance of mining equipment to proactively address maintenance needs and prevent breakdowns.

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Mine Controller with Fleet Management Systems, specifically MineStar Fleet and Terrain, in open-cut mining.
  • Excellent Planning and Organisational skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large and dynamic team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
  • Current C class Driver’s Licence.
