Classroom Teacher

Employment Type: Part Time, fixed term - 30 hrs per fortnight (Wk 1 - Thurs/Fri, Week 2 - Wed/Thurs/Fri)

Salary Range: Graduate $53.71 to EPT $78.64 per hour (pending experience)

St John's School, Silkwood

The small rural school of St John’s at Silkwood prides itself on being both Christ and child centred, providing excellent learning opportunities for the students it serves. The school is located in the heart of the Southern Deanery on the Cassowary Coast. Geographically placed in between the larger towns of Mission Beach, Tully and Innisfail, the school draws many of its students not only from Silkwood, but also the surrounding communities of Kurrimine Beach, Mission Beach and El Arish.

St John’s proud history commenced in 1948 when the school was opened by the Missionary Franciscan Sisters. The school comprised of children from the Silkwood area who were mainly of Italian descent and whose parents worked in the sugar cane industry. The Sisters served the local community for forty years, leaving in 1987. Today the dedicated lay staff continues the proud tradition of quality Catholic Education to many of the children and grandchildren of those first students.

About the Role

As a Teacher you will:

• Plan, prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programs
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school objectives and school planning
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment

Teachers are accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.

Work Requirements

• Be registered or eligible to be register with Queensland College of Teachers
• Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
