Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $84,077 to Lead Teacher $142,764  FTE Gross per annum + 12.75% super

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School, Thursday Island

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is located in the beautiful Torres Straits with two campuses on Thursday Island and Hammond Island.  Our Thursday Island Campus caters for Prep to Year 6, while our Hammond Island campus is for Prep to Year 2 with older students catching a daily ferry to the TI campus. We celebrate our remote location and Indigenous culture. The faith, life and values of the people of the Torres Strait are acknowledged through our learning environment

About the Role

This is a full time role with 50 percent filling the duties of the Teacher Librarian and 50 percent teaching Steam

Teacher Librarian

The Teacher Librarian has a complex, dynamic and challenging role in the school learning community. As a significant leader of learning in the school, personnel employed in this role must actively seek to maintain fluency with curriculum initiatives, emerging information and learning technologies, and inquiry based models of learning.

STEAM Teacher

The STEAM Teacher at the school plays a key role in nurturing creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking through rich learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. Working closely with classroom teachers and leaders, the STEAM teacher will deliver engaging hands-on learning in our Innovation/Maker Space and support the integration of STEAM across the curriculum

As a Teacher you will

• Plan, prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programs
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school objectives and school planning
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment

Teachers are accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.

Work Requirements

• Be registered or eligible to be register with Queensland College of Teachers
• Experience or qualifications in digital technologies, STEM, or related fields
• Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
