Newman Catholic College is seeking applications for a House Coordinators to join their expanding staff.

This position holds a permanent teaching positions within the Cairns Diocese.
Salary Range: Graduate $86,660 to Lead Teacher $147,048 FTE gross per annum + Middle Leader Allowance $9,773 gross per annum (Tier 1C)

Newman Catholic College, co-located on James Cook University site, Smithfield, is Cairns Catholic Education’s newest college, joining a system of 29 other catholic schools and colleges. Opened in 2022, with approximately 140 Year 7 students and growing a year level each year until Year 12 is reached in 2027, its location on and interaction with the University presents endless opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Newman Catholic College works collaboratively with James Cook University so that learning and teaching is enhanced at all year levels.
About the Role
The House Coordinator is responsible for the effective administration of the House.
The House Coordinator works within the spirit of the Newman ethos, as outlined in the Newman Catholic College Mission, Vision and Values statements.
The House Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the NCC Charism and Catholic Values are developed and nurtured within the College community through the House system. This includes supporting the goals of the College Mission, Vison and Values, through modelling of personal growth and development and a style of leadership which is based on service.
The House Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Principal – Religious Education, Assistant Principal – Students and the College Principal, to ensure that the various dimensions of the College’s faith life are accorded their due prominence.
The House Coordinator actively seeks and initiates creative ways to embed the Vision and Charism of the House Patron, developing links between the House Patron and the Charism of St John Henry Newman.
The role requires the House Coordinator to adopt a proactive, visionary and innovative approach to designing, implementing and monitoring programs and activities to promote House spirit.
The House Leader will help students develop a sense of personal responsibility in relation to College policies and expectations, and their place a as a member of Newman Catholic College.
The House Leader will play an important role in creating, developing and fostering a positive culture within their designated House, which, whilst being unique to the individual house, will encapsulate the vision of the House Patron.
