Applications are invited for a qualified and enthusiastic Teacher Librarian - Prep to Year 12 (ability to teach Secondary English is desired) to join the MacKillop Catholic College team, commencing Term 1, 2027.  

Commencing:  Term 1, 2027 - 18th January 2027 

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent Position 

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $86,600 to Lead Teacher $147,048  FTE Gross per annum + 12.75% super

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter

MacKillop Catholic College, a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes.  The College has progressively developed by year levels and celebrated the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025.  

Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.

About the Role

The Teacher Librarian has a complex, dynamic, and challenging role in the school learning community.  As a significant leader of learning in the school, personnel employed in this role must actively seek to maintain fluency with curriculum initiatives, emerging information and learning technologies, and inquiry-based models of learning.
 
A Teacher Librarian need to be committed to enriching and responding to the learning and teaching needs across the school.  A successful Teacher Librarian is an enabler, collaborating with and supporting teachers to incorporate information literacy, literature, print and digital resources in curriculum delivery.
 
The changing nature of the learning and teaching landscape in schools in a connected world has brought with it increased demand for multimodal access to a wider range of literature and information resources and the need for guidance and support in effective use and integration of these resources within curriculum that enables students to access a learning culture and resources that reflect the possibilities of an innovative 21st-century learning environment.
 
Teacher Librarians are accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.
