About the role
As our Manager Safety Assurance, you'll be responsible for leading a national program that tests how well NHVR’s safety and regulatory controls work—both internally and across the industry. This includes overseeing a 12-month rolling schedule of audits, assessments, and inspections.
You’ll help shape the safety framework, work closely with senior leaders, guide project delivery across operations, and turn data into meaningful reports that influence decisions at the executive and Board level. You’ll also manage a team of safety, data and project specialists, supporting them to deliver high-impact outcomes that improve safety on Australia’s roads.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Design and manage a national Safety Assurance Program aligned with NHVR’s strategic goals
- Coordinate and deliver internal audits, inspections, and risk-based assessments across operational areas
- Lead reporting to senior leaders, ELT, and the Board, turning safety insights into action
- Manage stakeholder engagement, including working with internal SMEs and external partners
- Support project delivery across the Service Delivery division, ensuring alignment with safety objectives
- Build and lead a strong data and reporting function that provides meaningful safety insights
- Establish and improve project management processes, templates, and tools across the division
- Coach, develop, and support a team of professionals focused on safety, projects, and data
About You
- Proven experience leading safety or risk programs in complex operational environments, ideally backed by formal training or qualifications in safety, risk, or project management
- Strong project leadership skills, with a track record of delivering large-scale or high-impact initiatives on time, within budget, and to a high standard
- People leadership experience, including coaching and developing high-performing teams and managing multidisciplinary functions like safety, data, and project delivery
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to work across all levels of an organisation and confidently present to executives and boards
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical skills, capable of turning complex data into clear insights and driving continuous improvement in safety systems
