About the role

Based at our Brisbane Office ideally, however open to suitable candidates from Townsville, Parramatta, Adelaide, Melbourne, the Senior Agreements and On Road Contract Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery of local On Road requirements for procurement and the ongoing review and reporting of the memorandums of understanding with each jurisdiction.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Manage existing service agreements and / or memorandums of understanding that exist between the NHVR and other government agencies including the review and monitoring of their performance, preparing performance reports, negotiating required changes and ensuring all obligations and disputes are resolved.
  • Lead the development of new agreements or renewal of current agreements as part of an agreed approach to rationalise and harmonise current jurisdictional service agreements
  • Build strong and effective internal and external relationships to undertake and manage sensitive commercial negotiations and discussions with customers, contractors, government agencies and other relevant third parties.
  • Liaise with NHVR’s Legal Service, Procurement and Commercial services to ensure that all activities comply with NHVR policy, procedure and best practice and that NHVR’s rights and responsibilities under contracts and other legal processes are met.
  • Provide high level advice to business areas to ensure the requirements of service agreements and being met and that business areas are aware of obligations under the agreements.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess

  • Tertiary qualification in, legal or related business discipline 
  • Admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court or Supreme Court of a State or Territory (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial contract negotiation, review and amendments.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence broad stakeholder groups with a view of achieving harmonised outcomes and achieving business growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive working relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level written communication skills including the ability to assist in the preparation of detailed policy proposals and prepare briefing notes for consideration by Executives and Ministers.
