Part-time Temporary staff Adult Education English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor for the BCTC Scott County Adult Education program.
• Hours per week: 12 hours • Work Hours: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday- Thursday
Job Duties:
• Plans and provides ELL instruction for eligible adults in a variety of settings. • Administers and/or interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult ELL students. • Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies. • Assesses and monitors learning. • Provides classroom management. • Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught. • Participates in required professional development by Kentucky Adult Education. • Maintains student records. • Participates in retention and follow-up activities. • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field. • Score of NRS level 6 in Language on the TABE A 11/12 assessment (TABE assessment provided by BCTC AE and must be passed within three months of hire).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer prior ELL experience. • Multilingual • Experience with the contextualization and use of authentic materials to aid in achieving higher proficiency rating in speaking, listening, reading, and writing is desired. Emphasis on daily life skills with additional focus on vocabulary acquisition and developing confidence in speaking is preferred. • Post-Secondary transcripts
