Job Summary
Provides advice and guidance to TRIO students in professional, and personal support services to overcome academic and non-academic barriers and enhance their skills to increase retention and graduation rates.
Job Duties:
Provides support and coaching for personal, career and academic matters through ongoing, intrusive advising including working with students to develop Individual Success Plans (ISPs) and monitoring students’ progress by collecting data on achievement and attendance through Starfish and other student retention tools
Utilizes a variety of individualized academic and non-cognitive assessments to develop and analyze a student’s ISP to ensure the right supports are in place
Communicates with students at least once a month through a variety of student-driven means including, face-to-face contacts, email, texting, social media, phone, etc.
Recruitment activities to assist in identifying and selecting TRIO Project ASPIRE-eligible students to enroll in the program.
Tabling events
Coordinate program utilization of Tutor.com and campus provided tutoring for program participants
Develop and organizes activities for and between current and former participants by establishing the TRIO Project ASPIRE Peer Mentoring/Coaching program
Supports evaluation of student outcomes to measure program success.
Documents services provided and prepares pertinent reports using TRIO Project ASPIRE’s student information database, BLUMEN weekly
Attends professional workshops and conferences
Facilitates orientations, workshops, and programs, at least one per semester, and offers additional academic support by maintaining and updating supplemental materials (electronic and printed) pertinent to students’ academic needs
Organizes and facilitates one technology instruction workshop per semester.
Acts as liaison with financial aid office; reviews financial aid packages with each student.
Serves as a resource person to faculty, staff and students on academic/financial issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience
Counseling or experience with direct service to college students
TRIO experience an exceptionally valued skill
Experience with first-generation, economically disadvantaged backgrounds
Experience and Understanding of Financial Aid procedures
Must be able to work independently
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments
Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or equivalent and 6+ years of experience
Previous experience in a community college setting
