Adjunct nursing clinical instructors are responsible for facilitating clinical learning experiences in a variety of area healthcare facilities for no more than 10 nursing students per Kentucky Board of Nursing regulation (201 KAR 20:260).
• Provide hands-on clinical instruction and supervision of nursing students while in the clinical setting of not more than 10 students per Kentucky Board of Nursing regulation (201 KAR 20:260) • Facilitate meaningful learning experiences including use of the nursing process and clinical judgement. • Assess and evaluate student learning, providing feedback in a timely manner to promote student success. • Facilitate development of clinical reasoning skills, professional identity, and use of effective communication skills while providing safe patient care in the clinical setting. • Complete clinical evaluation of student performance weekly, at mid-term and final end of term. • Act as a liaison between the nursing program and the healthcare facility. • Participate in MCTC clinical instructor orientation and course specific faculty meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate Degree in Nursing, or equivalent • Two years of full-time, or equivalent, experience as a registered nurse within the immediate past five years. • Current active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse to practice in the state of Kentucky. • To satisfy the requirements of area clinical facilities the successful candidates will be required to submit to a drug screen. • Interacts effectively and professionally with students, staff, faculty, and external customers of Maysville Community and Technical College including Advisory Board Members, clinical site preceptors, and other off-campus sites. • Exceptional customer-focused skills. Ability to address student needs and resolve issues with diplomacy and tact. • Interpersonal skills including questioning, listening, and showing respect for others. • Efficient writing skills to communicate effectively in memos, letters, and via email. • Strong mentorship, communication, and organizational skills to guide and evaluate nursing students. • Ability to maintain student and patient confidentiality. • Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and code of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities. • Commitment to the success of the nursing student, program of nursing, and Maysville Community and Technical College. • Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
