Job Summary
The Student Success & Engagement department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a Student Engagement Coordinator. This position will be responsible for: assisting the Student Success & Engagement Lead in planning and implementing student activities and events in collaboration with other Student Success & Engagement team members and various partners across the college community. This role is also responsible for overseeing the Student Life Committee and supporting student organizations.
Job Duties:
• Collaborate with Director and Lead in planning and organizing student activities and events across six JCTC campuses (Downtown, Tech, Shelby, Southwest, Bullitt, and Carrollton). • Check accuracy of the Student Engagement webpage and utilize JCTC/KCTCS marketing platforms along with the Student Success & Engagement Lead. • Collaborate with departments to support college events, following the priorities set by the Lead. • Ensure programming promotes leadership and personal development. • Collect and analyze event data to make data-driven recommendations. • Use Canva and other tools for event promotion, website updates, and student newsletters. • Coordinate logistics for student engagement events, including facility requests, room reservations, event setup/breakdown, and IT support. • Complete appropriate paperwork and documentation for purchases and vendors. • Collaborate with departments on college-wide events to foster teamwork. • Provide input on budgets for events and programming • Coordinate purchasing and budget submissions for Student Life Budget requests, foundation donations, and related financial matters.
Student Life Association • Act as Chair for the Student Life Committee and ensure compliance with KCTCS procedures. • Provide training for student organization leaders, students, and faculty and staff advisors. • In collaboration with the Lead, develop and provide leadership opportunities for students. • Manage the Student Life handbook, including authoring, editing, and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND TWO YEARS RELATED PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT REQUIRED. MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field such as Education, Psychology, or Communication • Experience planning activities, engaging students virtually, and managing budgets. • Strong administrative and organizational skills, and ability to balance competing priorities. • Ability to coach students • Innovative, creative, resourceful, enjoys a fast-paced environment, initiative-taker, able to talk to anyone at any time in any setting. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. • Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Experience using technology and willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate student needs. • Authentic, relatable, accessible, and approachable to students, faculty, staff, and community members. • Patient, persistent, and a visible passion for students and their success.
