Job Summary
SKYCTC invites applications for a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as the College’s first Vice Chancellor of Workforce Solutions. In close partnership with the Chancellor and the executive leadership team, the new Vice Chancellor will advance the College through shared decision‑making, transparent communication, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to collective success.
Workforce Solutions is a key economic development partner in the region, providing the College's non-credit workforce development, community education, customized training, and professional development initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the Vice Chancellor advances the College's mission by fostering innovation, building strategic partnerships, generating new revenue opportunities, and responding to the regional and state workforce and economic development needs.
The successful candidate will champion excellence, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking while ensuring programs and services effectively support learners, employers, and community partners.
Job Duties:
• Provides overall leadership and supervision in the strategic planning, development, implementation, marketing, and evidence-based evaluation of the College’s Workforce Solutions units, including customized and on-demand training, assessments, and community education. • Actively collaborates across divisions in implementing entrepreneurial strategies and measurable actions that directly align with the College’s business strategies and mission. • Provides leadership in the recruitment and retention of high-caliber full-time and part-time staff who support the instructional units and elevate the College's reputation. • Participates in the development and implementation of the College’s strategic plan and institutional effectiveness initiatives. • Collaborates across College administrative units to strengthen partnerships with business and industry through responsive education and training. • Serves as the community’s liaison for college Workforce Solutions training and solutions in support of regional economic development. • Leads innovative workforce and economic development initiatives that respond to changing industry needs and create new opportunities for the College. • Develops new programs, strategic partnerships, and funding opportunities that strengthen Workforce Solutions, diversify revenue, and support the College's long-term growth. • Promotes innovation through the responsible use of artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and entrepreneurial training strategies to better serve the workforce and the community. • Aligns programs with regional economic needs and community priorities while ensuring continuous improvement, quality assurance, and relevance. • Prepares budget requests and oversees the approved Workforce Solutions budget(s). • Coordinates and oversees grants and contracts for Workforce Solutions. • Provides system leadership, in concert with the administrative staff of KCTCS and its colleges, to enhance statewide Workforce Solutions initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development or a related field; or a master's degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development or a related field. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across executive leadership, divisions, and administrative units to achieve shared goals and foster a culture of transparency, communication, and mutual accountability. • Documented success in workforce program development and strategic leadership for multiple units and/or direct reports. • Exhibits high-level proficiency in fiscal management and data analysis. • Upholds the mission and vision of a comprehensive community and technical college. • Promotes effective team leadership and alignment with the College’s values. • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong personal and professional integrity.
