Job Summary

Provides academic instruction to adult education students by planning, delivering, evaluating, and documenting effective lessons aligned with state and federal standards. Assesses student progress, maintains an engaging and well-managed learning environment, supports student success, and participates in ongoing professional development while meeting Kentucky Adult Education performance goals.

Job Duties:

Provides comprehensive instruction in adult education programs, including literacy, adult basic education, GED® preparation, English language acquisition, Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE), workforce preparation, integrated education and training, digital literacy, family literacy, and workplace education. Develops and delivers standards-based, research-driven instruction aligned with students' College and Career Pathway Plans using technology and evidence-based instructional practices.

Creates syllabi and standards-aligned lesson plans, administers and interprets assessments, monitors student progress through data-driven instruction, and adjusts teaching strategies to maximize learning outcomes. Maintains accurate student records, fosters an engaging and well-managed classroom environment, and dedicates the majority of instructional time to direct classroom or facilitated lab instruction.

Collaborates with colleagues to develop curriculum, works closely with College and Career Navigators, integrates work, family, and community connections into instruction, and helps students apply classroom learning to employment and career goals. Builds partnerships with employers and community organizations, recruits and retains students, advocates for adult education programs, and actively participates in required and ongoing professional development to enhance instructional effectiveness and improve student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree

Must score within NRS Level 6 on the TABE 13/14 (A) in Reading and Math.
