Asst/Assoc Professor - Nursing and Allied Health 12 - month, tenure-track
Norfolk State University’s (NSU) Department of Nursing and Allied Health seeks two
experienced public health professionals to serve as primary instructional faculty or primarily research faculty for the MPH program focusing on health equity.
Engagement in scholarly activity, grantsmanship, professional development and service commensurate to determine the candidates’ faculty appointment. There will be an immediate review of applications, the position remains open until filled.
Job Duties include teaching courses, conduct research, advise and mentor students, develop students to have respect for others and their opinions, respect students as learners, promote student development and academic achievement through tutoring, mentoring, referrals, recommendations, financial assistance via scholarships and engagement in curricular activities and service-learning, serve on the program graduate committee and/or other committees, participate in program planning activities and pursue funding for program and faculty activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- An earned terminal degree in public health or a related degree (e.g., a DrPH or PhD)
- An earned Master of Public Health degree
- A record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research, service and professional development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership in a public health field at local, state or national levels.
- Experience teaching and mentoring MPH students and graduate students.
- Experience with health equity, diversity or inclusion initiatives.
- A commitment to the academic development and well-being of all students.
- Funding and conducting research for public health.
- Effective verbal and written, organizational, management, and communication skills.
- Established skill in on-line teaching, using web-based applications and learning management software.
