Job Duties

The objective of the Facilities Management Department shall be to provide a campus environment that is conducive to a clean, comfortable, safe and well-maintained facilities, grounds and landscape for students, faculty and staff (to include safety inspections), repair, renovation and construction of campus buildings, facilities and infrastructure. Shall report to campus as Essential Personnel.

The Groundskeeper Superintendent manages a variety of duties in the development and maintenance of the grounds in recreational, housing, building and parking areas as directed within the campus to include the outside perimeters of the campus, housing residential areas, academic buildings areas and other areas as defined.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Extensive understanding and knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment, and safety precautions are required
2. Ability to safely and independently lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
3. Ability to be to be subjected to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; and the ability to be subjected to hazards, vibrations, noise, atmospheric conditions and oils.
4. Manages and operates and handles various types of grounds maintenance equipment to include, but not limited to power mowers, push lawnmowers trimmers, chain saws, power edgers, blowers, rotor-tillers, aerators, seed spreaders, scarifiers, augers, post hole diggers, snow remover equipment and hand held tools and equipment.
5. Manages and perform proper planting techniques for flowers and shrubberies
6. Manages and spread mulch as required
7. Manages and trim hedges, shrubbery and trees as required
8. Manages and spread seasonal grass seeds and fertilizer as required Manages and assists in preparation of grounds for special events and activities.
9. Manages and edge all sidewalks and curbs within your assigned area Manages the removal inspects, bugs, feces, broken glass, trash and debris from all sidewalks, parking lots, landings, entry ways.
10. Manages the inspection of equipment and vehicles and report when not working properly.
11. Operates light-medium size pick-up trucks to maintain grounds, transport equipment, tools, supplies and trash as required.
12. High school education and 5-years' experience in supervising institutional grounds maintenance or equivalent Green Industry background, or equivalent grounds/landscape maintenance education, training and/or experience.
13. Valid driver's license with good driving record and must be insurable.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years' experience in grounds and landscape management with various lawn care equipment and machinery experience
