Job Duties

The Court of Appeals of Virginia is seeking a part-time Reporter of Decisions for Civil Law & Procedure. The position will assist the Court and the current Reporter of Decisions by reviewing drafts of opinions. Specifically, this position will substantively review and provide constructive feedback on draft opinions for content, analytical thoroughness, and legal accuracy. All responsibilities are conducted remotely, and relocation to Richmond is not necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must be a graduate of an ABA-accredited law school and must have excellent writing and analytical skills. The most competitive applicants will have at least ten years of legal experience in a practice-oriented, academic, or court setting. The position is considered part-time (anticipating an average of 20 hours per week) and serves at the pleasure of the Court.

Emphasis on Virginia civil practice, procedure, and evidence.
