Job Duties
The Department of English and Foreign Languages at Norfolk State University is seeking adjunct professors to teach the following courses:
ENG 101
Responsibilities:
Teach Composition I, the introductory writing course in the General Education core. This course is designed to be a hands-on workshop that will provide students with an introduction to college writing, including development, argumentation, and the rhetorical situations for producing written communication for a college audience.
ENG 102
Responsibilities:
Teach Composition II, the second writing course in the General Education core sequence. This course is designed to provide students with further experience in college writing, including development with sources, persuasion, logic and analytical thinking, and the transfer of written communication skills to other discipline-specific needs.
ENG 285
Responsibilities:
Teach Public Speaking and oral communication in the General Education core. In this course, students learn to give informal and formal speeches/oral presentations based on a variety of communication principles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates for ENG 101 and ENG 102
- MA in English, English Studies, Rhetoric, or Writing.
- MFAs in Creative Writing with experience or training in the teaching of composition are also invited to apply.
- Candidates for ENG 285
- Must have a completed MA in English or Rhetoric, or an MA in Communication.
- Must have a completed MA in English or Rhetoric, or an MA in Communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with course and assignment design preferred.
- Interest in Assessment preferred
