Job Duties

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has an exciting new opportunity for a Groundskeeper as an addition to our Building and Grounds department. This position will be responsible for the general maintenance, care, improvement, and appearance of the Museum’s grounds and Sculpture Garden.

This is a salaried, non-exempt position that offers Commonwealth of Virginia employee benefits such as 12 paid holidays, health benefits and more. Duties include:

Maintains Sculpture Garden Water Fountains and Water Garden. Supports the museum's commitment to provide quality customer service to visitors throughout Virginia and beyond by applying professional talents, knowledge and skill to the museum campus and statewide partnership network, as appropriate and on location as needed.

Oversees the grounds volunteer team.

Maintains Irrigation Systems on Museum Campus.

Maintain Sculpture Garden Water Fountains and Water Garden.

Inclement Weather / Snow Removal.

Clean up after storms.

Garden maintenance after special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and plant care appropriate to the region.

Demonstrated ability to operate required tools and equipment.

Strong communication skills.

Knowledge of computers and basic Microsoft software programs.

Experience with water management, troubleshooting and repair of irrigation systems and basic landscape equipment.

Additional Considerations

High school graduate preferred.

Current pesticide applicators license preferred.
