Job Duties
The Department of Physics at Norfolk State University invites applications for a one-year term position at the rank of Instructor. The department offers a BS in physics, an MS in Materials Science, and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will join a cohesive faculty in Physics and will be responsible for full participation in the management and oversight of education and research program offerings for undergraduate and graduate students.
We seek candidates that are broadly trained in the field of physics having the capabilities to teach both introductory level and upper-level physics courses. The department is particularly interested in candidates with experience teaching Introductory Physics and Introductory Physics Laboratory. Application reviews for fall 2024 semester will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications
1. MS or Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field with broad training in physics.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Considerations
1. Evidence of ability to teach introductory physics and physics laboratory courses.
