Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with an emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of a Counselor II in Psychology.
This position will provide direct psychological treatment services to patients to include comprehensive initial and annual assessments, restoration to competency services, treatment planning services through core membership on a treatment team, psychotherapy groups, behavioral consultation to treatment providers, and program development as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with forensic populations, particularly those found incompetent to stand trial and ordered for restoration as well as those order for forensic evaluation (CST/MSO). This position may provide supervision and training for students (practicum and intern). The incumbent would be joining a strong team of collaborative licensed professional counselors and psychologists within ESH.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field is required.
Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor is required.
Experience with severe and acute mental illness is required.
Additional Considerations
Experience with forensic populations including treatment needs, means of assessment, and knowledge of how persons with mental illness encounter the legal and criminal justice systems is preferred.
Doctoral Degree in Psychology is preferred.
Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Psychologist or license eligible.
