Job Duties
Harrisonburg/Rockingham General District Court-Civil Division is seeking a career-minded, team player to join our staff. The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines. Ensures court instructions are executed and legal papers are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. Individuals must be committed to providing excellent customer service, possess a positive attitude, have the ability to quickly learn new tasks accurately, and work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment all the while promoting a positive work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Specific duties include but are not limited to Accurately preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines, preparation of dockets, accepting and receipting payments, assisting the Judge in court, entry/update of case information in the automated case management system filing, scanning, answering phones and assisting customers at the counter. Individuals must be detail-oriented, highly accurate, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced office. Discretion and integrity while working with highly sensitive and confidential matters are a must. Punctuality, reliable attendance, teamwork, and providing customer service in a professional manner are a must. Must be able to assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, data entry experience, possess a strong work ethic, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, have the ability to manage changing priorities, and must be flexible with assignments. Applicant must be able to assist the public and co-workers in a courteous and efficient manner, be able to work independently as well, and be a team player who assists others when needed and who promotes a positive office environment. Job requires being able to stand/sit for long periods, ability to lift/carry 10+ pounds and bending/kneeling to retrieve files. Advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software is required.
Additional Considerations
Most competitive applicants will have high-volume office experience, customer service experience, and experience in cash handling.
