Job Duties

The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), a behavioral treatment center known for securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders is actively recruiting for an Emergency Response Team Officer.

Purpose of Position:
To maintain security, custody and control of resident population while committed to Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation. Maintain controlled access both inside and outside the facility. Maintain control and custody during transportations outside of the secure facility.

KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
-Working knowledge of policies, methods of physical control, first aid procedures, and radio communications;
-Ability to operate automated control systems and personal computer;
-Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing;
-Ability to apply and interpret rules and regulations, conduct thorough searches; analyze and resolve problems; provide leadership and work direction to residents; and use good judgment;
-Successfully complete certification and orientation;
-Able to work all security post as directed by supervisor, follow written post orders, and facility policies and procedures.
-Ability to drive a 15 passenger security van.

Minimum Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Valid Virginia driver's license.
-Must be a citizen of the U.S. and at least 18 years of age.

-Experience in a mental health environment.
