The Business Services Director (BSD) provides specialist capabilities for GENEDGE and acts as the knowledge management hub for their assigned areas of responsibility. Their responsibilities include being the face of GENEDGE by providing direct consultation with our clients, being project managers overseeing our third parties as they provide direct services to our Clients, and being responsible for the content of existing and new services. The Business Services Director Team consists of SMEs covering a broad range of business needs. They can work directly with all levels in manufacturing, engineering, and technology companies. The position requires significant overnight travel, typically within Virginia. This position is expected to be located near the I-95 corridor, serving I-95 and I-64 areas. However, work may be throughout the Commonwealth.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to craft and execute a statement of work to meet our client needs. This is done through collaboration with RGMs and providing direct delivery, utilizing a developed pool of resources if warranted and/or support from other BSDs.
Be the GENEDGE expert in their respective line of business (see skills and specifications)
Provide consultations, remote discussions, and site visits with Regional Growth Managers (RGMs) to craft the best solutions to an existing or potential client’s situations, challenges, and needs
Strategize with colleagues and leadership to deliver the best solutions for complex challenges
Work with GENEDGE RGMs and/or Third-Party resources to scope and cost engagements
Assist the RGM in proposal development, resourcing, and Salesforce documentation, as requested
Provide product/service delivery as part of a project delivery team, where warranted
Support the project closure, impact collection and reporting process, as required
Own responsibility for the third-party performance in their respective line of business
Source and maintain sufficient qualified third-party capacity and capabilities to fulfill the business needs
Lead services development and implementation based upon market needs, contribution margin potential, and customer impact
Provide briefings/training to RGMs of service offerings and market and industry trends
Be responsible for their administrative requirements of GENEDGE employees, such as Time Sheets, Vacation Requests, Expense Reports, Mileage Reports, Required Training, etc.
Skills and Specifications
Strong knowledge and experience in the service area of OPERATIONS (Process Improvement). This includes areas such as 5S, Lean, Green Belt, Black Belt, and general skills in how manufacturing shop floors function.
Efficient project management combined with strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Confident, outgoing, and adaptable to change
Versatile and able to deal with clients from various walks of life, including small team leadership and participation in strategic engagements at the leadership level [business owner, President, CEO].
Comfortable using computers, web conferencing, cloud computing, and follow the latest in technology
Able to deal with stress and work under pressure; e.g., ability to juggle and prioritize a variety of collaboration with RGMs and client deliveries
Flexible with work hours and schedule to support client needs
Pass a criminal records background check
Possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense secret security clearance
Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
Required:
A BS degree in an engineering, science, or business discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Progressively greater experience and responsibilities in a manufacturing and/or technology environment
Demonstrated expertise in process improvement areas which may be “shop floor” or “above the shop floor” with ability to lead events and provide training in process improvement
A working knowledge of key business processes associated with the value chain such as strategic planning, product development, financial analysis/cost accounting, logistics/purchasing, quality systems, operations, industrial marketing/sales
Previous consulting or direct customer facing experience
At least 10 years of progressively greater experience in the OPERATIONS line of business, or equivalent combination of the other listed respective lines of business:
