ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, a GREAT PLACE, doing GREAT THINGS, because of GREAT PEOPLE, is seeking applicants to fill a Director of Healthcare Education Initiatives position. This is a full-time/salaried position with benefits.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The primary purpose of this position is to promote the healthcare education programs available at the Center and to promote the Center’s capabilities in facilitating the instruction and delivery of healthcare related educational programs, including clinical simulation. The incumbent will perform ongoing needs assessment and outreach activities with area healthcare providers, healthcare employers, students, and educational providers to identify needs and gaps in current healthcare education through surveys and other feedback mechanisms. The incumbent will work with the Center’s leadership and educational and healthcare partners to identify ways in which identified gaps in healthcare education and needs, both present and future, can be met by the Center and its educational partners through instructional and professional development opportunities. The incumbent will be responsible for leveraging resources and partnerships to ensure the Center’s healthcare education programs are promoted to target audiences. The incumbent will analyze available demand, job skills and workforce data and reports on healthcare related subjects and be able to interpret and report on the data. The incumbent may serve on regional and statewide boards and councils related to healthcare education and workforce development and represent the Center at appropriate events related to healthcare education and outreach activities. The incumbent may also be asked to instruct or facilitate relevant healthcare related courses or learning opportunities as appropriate. The incumbent will also perform other related duties in the furtherance of the Center’s educational and workforce development mission.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare terminology and practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with stakeholders in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to interpret complex reports and data sets and summarize the data in written or oral form.
• Ability to design survey and feedback collection mechanisms to obtain information from target audiences.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge and ability to use basic computer applications and email.

Additional Considerations

• Teaching or instruction experience in a medical or educational setting.
• Experience with healthcare simulation equipment.
