Job Duties

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center is one of 12 inpatient facilities operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center, located in Petersburg, Virginia, is a 94-bed medical facility providing acute medical diagnoses, skilled care, intermediate care, and long-term care to individuals receiving services in DBHDS facilities and within the community that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Admissions to HWDMC are generally either permanent placement or special hospitalization. Patients typically come to HWDMC as a special hospitalization for step-down to stabilize, post-surgery rehabilitation, or long-term care.

Hiram Davis Medical Center is seeking a Human Resources Supervisor specializing in Employee Relations. This position will also oversee daily operations of the Human Resource Division at HDWMC. This role involves investigating employee relations incidents, guiding management on performance issues, leading the recruitment and benefits staff, and acting as a liaison between Central Office staff, the facility director, and employees.

• Ability to work closely with varied levels of staff, professional backgrounds and disciplines
• Demonstrated ability to guide, counsel, facilitate briefings and discussions with diversified employee populations
• Skilled in conducting administrative fact findings; administering performance management programs, and retirement consultations.
• Must have demonstrated ability to review and analyze data and reach conclusions that are backed by employment laws and policies in order to provide a clear analysis for internal and external reviews, applicable reports and responses to inquiries by oversight agencies.
• Knowledge of Human Resources Standards for Joint Commission, Medicaid/Medicare and/or similar entities.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Good organizational and analytical skills to problem solve and take corrective actions.
• Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment and work with limited resources and time constraints.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resource management
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations
• Knowledge of EEO/ADA, FLSA, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, classification and compensation, benefits and transactions, and Employment Dispute Resolution.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Additional Considerations

• Previous Human Resource experience in healthcare
• Previous supervisory experience
• Previous experience in Employee Relations or investigations
• SHRM Certification
