About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Storekeeper Senior at our Division 5 Headquarters in Suffolk, Virginia. The successful candidate will manage and maintain a State Police stockroom to include receiving, storing, inventorying, requisitioning, transporting, and distributing uniform clothing, weapons, supplies, parts and equipment necessary for the operation of a State Police Field Division; will keep accurate electronic and physical records of issued supplies and credits; and will operate the division’s supply truck and ensure the maintenance of this vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of general storeroom and inventory control procedures and techniques; of inventory recordkeeping procedures; and of basic mathematics.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications; in using a calculator; and in operating manual and motorized materials handling equipment.
•Demonstrated ability to operate a 25,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) motor vehicle; to maintain a variety of electronic and physical records such as inventory, purchase requisitions, and shipping and receiving documents; to take periodic physical inventories; to periodically load, unload and lift heavy items; to perform basic mathematical calculations; to prioritize work; to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English; and to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Valid Virginia Motor vehicle driver’s license.
• Experience using an automated inventory system.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
