Job Duties

The Mission of the Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy is to intervene in the lives of 16-18 year old teenagers by providing the values, skills, education, and self-discipline needed to produce responsible, productive citizens, and to do so in a highly structured learning environment.

The ATAC Officer will:

Effectively provide first line supervision and guidance for cadets to ensure their proper accountability, control, and safety;

Present instruction on selected military subjects to the cadets;

Provide in-depth counseling for cadets to include behavior and performance;

Serve as a role model/mentor for cadets in the ChalleNGe program;

Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia Driver’s license and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within 180 days of employment.

The open positions will be working 2nd or 3rd shift. Which would consist of a 3pm-11pm or a 11pm-7am schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

Have experience supervising personnel;

Have worked in a team/collaborative environment;

Be able to speak/communicate orally to a group of people;

Have demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment;

Must be willing and able to work 2nd and/or 3rd shift;

Valid Virginia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record required.

Additional Considerations

Active National Guard/Reserve status and Veteran status preferred;

Military squad leader and/or military instructor experience preferred;

Experience working with at-risk youth preferred.

Applicants must be able to work rotating shifts and perform occasional overnight travel.

Must have, and maintain, a valid Virginia Driver’s License for the duration of employment

Must acquire Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 11 months of employment, and maintain valid CDL for duration of employment thereafter.
