Job Duties

Job Summary – Chesterfield Juvenile Court has a courtroom deputy clerk position available for the right applicant. This position works under the direction of the Post-Court Supervisor and ultimately reports to the Clerk of Court. The courtroom deputy clerk must uphold the Oath of Office and keep the work of the Chesterfield J&DR District Court in the strictest of confidence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Prepare and process all legal forms, research case problems, and interact with a variety of agencies. Ensure Court's instructions are executed, and documents prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. Perform and multi-task in a fast-paced courtroom environment while working closely with judges. Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail are necessary in this position. This position requires subject matter expertise in the matters under the jurisdiction of the J&DR District Court. The incumbent must prepare court dockets, complete tasks as required following court hearings, and handle correspondence from multiple court-related agencies and attorneys. As a public-facing member of the court’s operation, empathy and trauma-informed customer service skills are crucial for success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants must possess a can-do attitude, be able to meet strict deadlines, and handle a high volume of paperwork. Favored applicants will be self-motivated, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and manage changing priorities.

Additional Considerations

Preferred applicants will have attended college; have relevant judicial system experience in a similar position in a court setting; possess credible experience working in a trauma-informed environment; and have experience providing face-to-face customer service interactions in a challenging environment.
