Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Aviation is seeking a Financial Specialist to support the Department of Aviation’s mission by providing financial and administrative support for fiscal and administrative operations to ensure optimum effectiveness and agency compliance with State and Federal requirements. Direct responsibility for accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activities, and document retention. Performs funding program reconciliations. Performs weekly reconciliation of deposits, vouchers, and travel reimbursements.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include: Considerable experience using Cardinal Financials module for accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activities; experience with the Small Purchase Credit Card (SPCC); extensive knowledge of Microsoft software programs; ability to communicate orally and in writing in a professional manner; attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to research and understand Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures.

Additional Considerations

Experience with reconciliation processes. Experience processing remote deposits. Experience in creating pivot tables, macros. Experience with federal reporting. Experience with Commonwealth document retention processes.
