Job Duties

Assist in making sure that all of the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services department are completed. Housekeeping experience and knowledge is essential to carry out the duties of this position.
Ensures expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit. Provides staff with frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations and in-service training sessions as appropriate. Ensures staff has the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals. Addresses and documents performance issues as they occur. Reviews and communicates safety issues to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

The Associate Director of Environmental Services functions directly under the Director of Environmental Service and is essentially a supervisor of supervisors and other designated staff. Through his/her subordinate staff, he/she directs the accomplishment of all Environmental Service assigned objectives, modifying, as situations arise, the continuity of established work schedules and deployment of assigned resources, staff, supplies and equipment in the daily accomplishment of the services provided by Environmental Service.
Supervise (1) Housekeeping Supervisor, (1) Floor Tech Supervisor, (1) PM Shift Supervisor, (1) Textile Care Supervisor and (1) Environmental Service Aide (Supply, Equipment, Preventative Maintenance Clerk) and through them (30) full-time and (26) part-time housekeeping and laundry apparel workers. Apply relevant personnel management techniques during subordinate evaluations, counseling and disciplinary actions, which may be required for positive outcomes on a case by, case basis.
Manage a wide array of assignment work schedules, work completion logs, productions standards, and inventory and equipment control logs in the daily execution of work performance. Insure that all reports, logs, and schedules are carried out timely and accurately. Periodically inspect assigned space for specific use, cleanliness, organization, etc. May also periodically inventory supplies and equipment, insuring good working order of equipment and sufficient supply availability.
Designated the “Environmental Service Training and Education Officer”, assure that all training and in-service (routine & non-routine) requirements are being met, properly recorded and when necessary, recommend the need or requirement for new technology training. Delegate to supervisory staff the carrying out regular and customary training as directed.
Assist or conduct unit time keeping requirements, surveys and collection of data relevant to Environmental Service Activities, utilizing his/her computer literacy of Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, etc.
May perform other duties assigned by the Director of Environmental Service.

May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma preferred. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.
