Job Duties

Provides time-limited mental health services to probationers/parolees and State Responsible jail inmates, which may include: mental health assessment and triage; individual and group therapy; psychoeducational services; referrals to community providers, and re-entry planning under the supervision and direction of the Regional Mental Health Clinician and/or the Community Mental Health Clinical Supervisor. Screens, tracks, and monitors probationers/parolees with mental health service needs in coordination with assigned Probation and Parole Officers. Provides consultation and training to Probation and Parole Staff, facility MH&W staff, and community partners.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Relevant professional experience in the provision of mental health services to a varied population.

Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders, the ability to develop intervention and treatment plans, and to provide individual and group counseling/therapy.

Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and to provide training to others.

Additional Considerations

Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health supporting the ability to fulfill the required tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code.
