Job Duties
Contributes to the agency’s mission to provide quality agricultural supplementary services while maintaining inmate custody and public safety at the Milk Plant in the State Farm Correctional Center Agribusiness Operations. Provides instruction & supervision to the inmate work force at milk processing plant, meat-processing plant, and other farm operations.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide assistance in the transport and delivery of raw milk, meat, and other food products. Trains and supervises inmate workers in food and beverage production setting. Follows all safety and sanitation protocols, which include clean-in-place (CIP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). Assists other agribusiness operations as needed. The selected candidate must have the demonstrated ability to obtain HACCP certification and/or Dairy Plant Sampler certification. As part of the Re-entry Program, this training provides tangible skills to inmates that prepare them for a successful return to the workforce and society.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge and demonstrated ability to operate processing plant equipment. Demonstrated ability to supervise inmate workforce. Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records. Possess skills in teamwork.
Additional Considerations
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), certification and/or Dairy Plant Sampler certification within 6 months of hire.
