Job Duties
The Virginia Department of General Services, Office of Facilities Management is a customer-focused organization that provides high-quality surroundings for the roughly 75 state and legislative agencies located within the Capitol Square complex. The Office of Facilities Management operates and maintains approximately 4.2 million square feet of space at the Capitol Complex and throughout the metropolitan Richmond area, including office buildings, the State Capitol, the Governor’s Mansion and monuments. These positions ensure the repair, maintenance & preventive maintenance tasks/guidelines are met with the least amount of disruption to building occupants and work in a multi-craft team environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid VA DL required.
Considerable experience performing electrical installation, repair, & maintenance operations.
Journey level knowledge of the principles & methods associated w/ electrical installation, repair, maintenance, & operation of electrical distribution systems, equip. & other devices in accordance w/ NEC electrical code.
Skill in use of electrical tools & instruments used to install equip. & systems as well as other hand & power tools, gauges, & equip. used in HVAC & electrical trades.
Ability to troubleshoot, test, diagnose & repair a wide variety of HVAC, electrical, structural, mechanical & plumbing equip.
Experience reading & interpreting blueprints, diagrams, drawings, specifications & operating manuals.
Ability to work independently as well as a team member.
Must have strong communication skills, & able to communicate w/ various levels of users & occupants of DGS bldgs. & facilities.
Must be able to follow oral & written instructions.
Basic computer skills required such as email.
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., reach overhead, bend, kneel, & crouch.
Additional Considerations
Journeyman level or Masters electrical card.
