Job Duties

The Virginia Dept of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Fiscal Technician Senior to support Financial Operations. This position is responsible for providing financial and administrative support to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the Cashiers Office by maintaining, calculating, researching, validating and performing data input for various financial transactions.

Job Duties:
Duties will vary depending on the department’s needs. Duties may include processing and reconciling financial transactions, collection, maintenance of accurate records, receipting, depositing of funds, preparing mail, scanning documents into a document imaging/retrieval system, review and analyze invoice documentation, coding and calculating due dates in accordance with accounting procedures for processing.

Responsibilities May Include:
• Accounts Payable- Review and analyze invoice documentation, correctly calculating payment due dates in accordance with accounting procedures, DMV policies and guidelines, the Prompt Pay Act, and the Code of Virginia. Process vendor and refund disbursements through various accounting systems to include Oracle Financial System and the Commonwealth’s Accounting & Reporting System (CARDINAL).
• Accounts Receivable – Receive and review payments. Process, post and reconcile payments accurately in Oracle Financial. Interact with originating location to research and resolve discrepancies. Handle customer interactions over the phone.
• Cashiers Office - Financial record keeping, data entry, auditing, balancing deposit certificates, and cash handling.
• Administrative – Assist with opening and distributing mail. Maintain, scan, purge, and dispose of files in accordance with guidelines and schedules. Update databases and other record keeping systems

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Financial Operations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Working knowledge of automated accounting systems and office operational principles, office equipment and use of standard business forms and filing systems
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with numerical and statistical data
• Demonstrated ability to balance and reconcile accounts and cash drawer
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and accurately interpret accounting and financial records and apply procedural changes.
• Demonstrated skills in the use of contemporary computer application software to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential information and documents.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate.
• Strong organizational skills

Additional Considerations

• Experience with PeopleSoft, eVA, or CARDINAL
