Job Duties

For more than 35 years, the Virginia Lottery has been building an amazing organization committed to growth and giving back – and having fun while doing it. Operating entirely on revenue from game sales, rather than tax dollars, the Virginia Lottery generates more than $2.0 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools. The Virginia Lottery also licenses and regulates casino gaming and mobile sports betting.

The Virginia Lottery, an independent state agency, is currently seeking an On-Premise Sales Manager to establish, direct, and lead lottery programs in social establishments such as bars, taverns, restaurants, and bowling alleys. This position includes the hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating the job performance of 3 On-Premise Sales Consultants and 1 Sales Analyst; making recommendations to improve on-premise recruitment operations statewide; assisting the Deputy Executive Director of Sales in establishment of On-Premise Sales Consultants sales goals; and working with them and their retailers to ensure sales goals are met. The selected candidate must be able to develop on-premise sales programs and objectives to meet sales goals; establishing personal objectives and professional development plans of On-Premise Sales Consultants. Performance is evaluated on retailer recruitment, sales goal achievement, and other important factors.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience with on-premise retailers/accounts and experience with consumer packaged goods (cpg0 is preferred. Experience in sales management with proven strengths in leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring skills. Ability to analyze sales data from the assigned areas and propose change; work with retailers to increase sales and try new promotional programs; plan, organize and direct the work of others; develop sales presentations and present to all levels of management.

Considerable knowledge of and experience with on-premise sales management methods; principles and practices of product marketing and retail sales; and PC, iPad, or other hand-held equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft products, effective communication skills (oral and written) is a must. The preferred candidate must be willing to travel statewide.

This position will be required to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis and occasional 10-hour shifts.

Additional Considerations

-Previous management experience preferred
-Field sales experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), and sales force automation software on a laptop or iPad experience a plus.
-Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or equivalent from an accredited college or university desired.
-A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
-Lottery experience is a plus
