Job Duties

VDOT Bristol District is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineer Senior Supervisor Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will supervise, mentor, and train a team of professional engineers and technical staff, ensuring the successful planning, development, and execution of engineering projects. You will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the technical review, analysis, and approval of engineering activities, while providing project management leadership across functional areas. Key responsibilities include supervising, organizing, and directing staff and resources, as well as collaborating with management, stakeholders, customers, and key individuals throughout VDOT. The role also involves communication with internal staff, local government, consultants, citizens, and FHWA, ensuring alignment and progress on transportation projects and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include engineering software.

• Valid Professional Engineer's license.

• Ability to oversee construction activities for multiple projects of varying complexity as Engineer-in-Responsible-Charge.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups.

• Experience applying roadway engineering design and state and federal standards related to highway design and construction.

• Experience applying federal, state and local transportation rules, regulations, policies and practices.

• Degree in Construction or related field.

• Ability to supervise staff, programs and budgets.

• Experience in preliminary engineering and construction activities.

Additional Considerations

• Progressively responsible experience managing complex projects in the transportation engineering and construction industry.

• Experience managing total operation of projects with significant value.
