The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking to fill a technician position within our Hauling Permits work center. This position will be responsible for issuing a variety of hauling permits for over-dimensional and/or overweight vehicles in accordance with the Code of Virginia and Virginia's Size, Weight and Equipment Requirements. This position is also responsible for collecting related revenues in an ethical and customer-focused manner and will provide excellent and efficient customer service. Constant communication will occur with a high demand Motor Carrier customer as well as communication with other government agencies and law enforcement.

Minimum Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, apply, and communicate regulations, standards,
procedures to customers and representatives of the motor carrier industry.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret highway maps and specifications.
• Working knowledge and skills associated with office operations, office equipment, and standard business forms.
• Considerable knowledge of and experience with computers, email features, online search tools and functions, databases, and telephone systems.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high demand, team oriented, and fast-paced environment requiring one to adapt to change, meet the changing demands of the work environment, delays, or unexpected demands. .
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relations with others.
• Must be punctual, dependable, motivated, and responsible.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively with others orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated strength in problem solving and analytical thinking abilities.
Additional Considerations
• Working knowledge of the Code of Virginia as it relates to the Motor Carrier industry.
• Knowledge of motor carrier, over-dimensional permitting and electronic processing systems.
