Job Duties

Provides direct Human Resource program support to staff relative to timekeeping, employee relations, benefits programs and various areas of Human Resources as required. Oversees and administers Short Term Disability (STD) program and monitors each case along with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and parental leave compliance. Assists in all facets of semi-monthly payroll, creates Department of Corrections (DOC) DOC-3 payroll documents, sends packets to payroll office at Atmore headquarters, keys transactions into PMIS, and Database. Creates employment packets for all new hires. Creates interview packets.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of offices practices, procedures and office equipment. Working knowledge of a variety of manual and automated filing systems; of Standard English grammar, punctuation and usage. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Access to accomplish office support requirements. Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulation; to maintain harmonious working and public relations; to learn new practices, procedures and equipment operations. Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work assignments with minimal guidance from others; to understand and apply operating procedures and compose written response to inquiries. Considerable recent experience providing customer service and administrative support in a professional office setting. Demonstrated ability to set up and maintain automated and manual filing systems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information in a courteous manner. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner. High School Diploma or equivalent. Recent experience providing customer service and administrative support in a professional office setting. Recent experience using office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copier and fax machine).

Additional Considerations

Office administration post-secondary courses or equivalent training or experience in a related field. Background in record keeping preferred. Experience using Corrections Information System (CORIS) program. Some experience in Human Resources in a correctional and/or alternative setting.
