Job Duties
Norfolk State University’s Center for Materials Research invites applicants for
the position of General Administration.
The General Administration manages and supports operations and financial
reporting in the Center for Materials Research.
The duties and responsibilities include:
1. Serves as a first-line in overseeing the application of government and state
funds.
2. Serves as liaison for CMR by assisting in verifying information submitted to
Student Accounts, Title III, and Financial Aid in relation to graduate
programs. Applies knowledge of federal, state, and agency files, regulations,
and policies, as associated with projects to avoid mismanagement of funds.
Provides assistance with the University audits as it relates to State and
Federal audits.
3. Prepares budget revision upon request.
4. Provides reports to the CMR Director about the status of CMR and grant
budgets. Reviews financial status reports and obtains signatures by due
dates.
5. Assists with interpretation and implementation as rel
Minimum Qualifications
1. Knowledge of sponsored grant programs, and federal and state guidelines
and regulations.
2. Ability to provide and interpret financial reports.
3. Ability to interpret research contracts and government regulations regarding
submission of proposals.
4. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with administrators, faculty,
staff, and subordinates as well as representatives in Sponsored Programs and
Grants and Contracts office.
5. Demonstrated ability to work with others.
Additional Considerations
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience that
provides the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. preferred.
2. Experience working in higher education preferred.
